Greed and passing time

Amidst uncertainty, a comatose friend's fate unknown. My mind entwined with worries—eager pursuit of a new assignment and unreal concerns—reflecting a tumultuous mental state.

In the passage of years, insatiable greed persists,

A stubborn stain, irascible, it securely clings.

A friend in coma, one and a half months lost,

Yet dreams linger, a realm where time is cast.

My father, pious, with meager needs,

Dreamt too, a testament to how dreams breed.

From a single pin, ideas sprout, unlimited and bold,

Greed emerging, a story of desires manifold.

The countdown begun, a relentless march,

Health issues rock, a stark and poignant bark.

Helplessness cries, a sombre state,

Yet craving persists, defying life's fate.

In this intricate ballet of deprivations and dreams,

Yours, humble Prabhath, voicing thoughts serene.

Venkatesa, what's the essence that gleams?

This poem is inspired by a Telugu poem written by great Telugu poet Karunasri Jandhyala Papaiah Sastry''s ' Amar Quayyam' titled ' Poyenu Doora drusthi...'
