Bringing a mighty elephant from its secure homestead,
Euphemistically calling it domestication, we enslave it.
Cutting it free from prudence, freedom, and family,
We paint, decorate, and force the animal to surrender.
How can the beast belong to any religion?
People worship the decorated animal, captured and in control.
Strange are the interpretations, Guruvayurappa,
A man's beastly and cruel act to subjugate nature,
Unsustainable actions, waging war with the environment.
The final outcome, never to be seen,
Yet the results are strikingly visible—man at war with himself,
Reflecting the essence, Venkatesa, of our discord with nature.
As we wrestle with our dominion over the wild.
