As time slips away before your eyes,
Thoughts, feelings, dreams, all torn asunder,
Friends departed, either to realms beyond skies,
Or from your side, leaving you to ponder.
You swim in the dry lake of despair,
Reflecting on auspicious moments past,
Amidst the fiery future's ominous glare,
You remain unchanged, from first to last.
In every state - awake, asleep, in dreams,
You remain unchanged, steadfast and true,
Once awake in this grip of life, it seems,
You're stirred by emotions, fleeting as sunbeams.
And relationships lost to transiency,
Loyalty, a concept in limited view,
Good counsel ignored, pain's understanding free,
Leaving only echoes, memories askew.
How short-lived is your awakening's hue,
That never keeps you awake, forever askew.
